ABEST21 General Assembly was held on March every year at our member institutions. Agenda included items discussed at the Board Meeting; financial statements, draft budget, ratification of accreditation and Good Practice Award, and draft of partial amendment of ABEST21 Quality Assurance system.
ABEST21 General Assembly 2019
On March 6 to 8, 2019 at Shinagawa Season Terrace, the Annual Meeting for Fiscal 2018 was held. The following items were ratified.
- Settlement of accounts for Fiscal 2018
- Draft financial budget for Fiscal 2019
- Set up of Council for Nurturing Global Management Professionals
- Appointment of new officers following the expiry of terms
The balance for the Fiscal 2018 finished in the black, following the previous year. As a result, the budget to re-start the international joint research project in fiscal 2019 was ratified for Joint Research Project No.8 “Humanizing the school’s Management Education for Sustainable Economic Development in Asia-Pacific”. Also, based on the “Bandung Statement” from the Rectors and Deans Forum in November 2018, it was ratified to set up the Council for Nurturing Global Management Professionals respectively in Tokyo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Bandung. Concerning the appointment for new officers as a result of expiry of terms, Appointment Committee Chair Dean Qinhai Ma reported the recommendation for the current President Itoh, which was ratified at the Board Meeting and the General Assembly. President Itoh who was reappointed recommended the following members for the new executive officers.

On Tuesday, March 6, 2018 the General Assembly was held at Shinagawa Season Terrace Annex. The following agenda was discussed.

- Set up of Council for Nurturing Global Management Professionals in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand based on Industry-Government-Academia relationship
- Opening of ABEST21 Jakarta Office
Based on the materials including the balance sheet, income statement and financial statements, financial balance for the period from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 was explained in detail by the President. Due to improved rate of membership fee payment and increase in the number of schools applying for accreditation, the income showed an increase which kept the balance in black following 2016. ABEST21 Auditor Dean Ali Khatibi reported on the audit over the settlement of accounts during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2017, which was approved. The President expressed his intention that with the improved income ABEST21 plans to reinforce the staff and promote Global Knowledge Network activities as well as the accreditation activities. As for the budget plan, an extraordinary budget was raised for the Rector Forum which was originally scheduled for 2017 but postponed to 2018. This budget plan was approved.
