【Economics Department】

Based on the report and visit to the campus, we have seen sound internal quality and management system at FEB UNPAD. The organizational structure of the School generally ensures good decision-making process for the management related issues. FEB UNPAD has generally demonstrated good governance system in examining systematically and periodically the appropriateness of its management. The School has shown improvement in its management system and the educational and research environment. The School does have the system to practice the self-check/self-evaluation from time to time. As an organization, FEB discusses issues for improvement in the relevant meeting i.e. academic or research, develop and implement action plan to resolve the various issues.

FEB UNPAD has implement the PDCA cycle in making improvements based on the analysis of self-check. The quality improvement of FEB follows the university quality assurance system that have been established since 2003 and continuously updated over years. Overall, the PDCA cycle engages stakeholders from study program level to university level.

FEB does secure adequate number of practically qualified faculty members necessary for its practical education. We could see that staff of FEB UNPAD have been trained to be very warm, helpful, committed and demonstrate positive attitude which is very important embracing the international students and faculties. FEB regularly conducts various staff development programs to improve administrative operations. These programs are organized by the faculty, university, or external parties and include training in software operation, librarian skills, IT system use, communication, service excellence, and outbound leadership.

FEB UNPAD has provided a good environment conducive to teaching and learning. FEB has a guidance system to improve the quality of curriculum and educational content for all of the programs. Both physical and digital system play important role in ensuring the conducive learning environment. In terms of infrastructure, FEB contains classrooms that are furnished with projectors to facilitate learning activities, along with many seminar rooms that can accommodate large student groups and are also suitable for public talks. Some rooms are equipped with facilities for online or hybrid. FEB has expanded its library collections to include essential resources such as books, academic journals, and audio-visual materials.

  • The School demonstrate relatively strong foundation in internal quality assurance, curriculum, facilities, faculty, and student engagement. Its quality assurance system is robust, ensuring alignment with both national and international standards for continuous improvement. The curriculum remains relevant and globally focused, preparing students effectively for their careers. Modern, well-equipped facilities support a high-quality learning environment, while qualified faculty members actively contribute to teaching and research. Additionally, the diverse and engaged student body creates a collaborative and vibrant learning community, highlighting the School’s commitment to excellence in education and research. Nevertheless, to achieve its mission, the School should explore strategies to attract more international students and staff, enhancing its global presence and diversity. Identifying and promoting the unique strengths of the School—such as specialized programs, regional expertise, or notable partnerships—could greatly support these marketing efforts.

【Management Department】

Overall, the School has put in a lot of effort, made many wise decisions, implemented valid strategic plans, and has taken due consideration on the needs of the staff and students to create a conducive learning environment and to provide quality education. In short, it has more than met the criteria of ABEST21 Accreditation Standards.

There are always matters that need improvement in any School. In the case of FEB UNPAD, it’s mostly to do with explaining the implementation and evaluation of the mission statement, clarifying on the curriculum policy, and increasing the diversity in FEB UNPAD.

  • The School in general is already aligned with ABEST21 standards. Nevertheless, there are some areas that the School might consider:
    • The School’s mission statement can emphasize more on a clear statement which includes developing expert knowledge, fundamental knowledge and sophisticated expertise in the realm of management. The School can also explain better the socialization mechanism of its mission statements.
    • The School can further expand international collaborations in various aspects, including developing double degree programs, with international reputable universities.
    • The socialization of mental health support programs available can be more extensive.
    • The School might consider to develop strategies to attract international full-time degree students in addition to foreign exchange students.
    • The current burden for teaching, research, and community service for faculty members can be reconsidered.
    • The School might consider to develop strategies to attract international faculty members, in addition to visiting professors / scholars.

【Accounting Department】

The School has identified appropriate improvement issues. However, the PRT members suggested some improvements on School uniqueness and international faculty members.
The proposed improvement initiatives are relevant and required for the School, however, the School is suggested to look into a re-alignment its mission towards improving its uniqueness.
There are no major issues found; hence I suggest the School be reaccredited.

  • Overall, the Self-Check/Self-Evaluation Report of FEB UNPAD, especially for the Department of Accounting had been prepared comprehensively and most of the questions raised before the Peer Review Visit (PRV) had been addressed satisfactorily by the department as well as during the interview sessions with the department, student, lecturer, alumni, and administrative staffs.
There are only two standards that the School and Accounting Department need to emphasize further in their action plans – Standard 4 and Standard 20. The rest of the standards are met satisfactorily. Thus, it is highly recommended that the School to be awarded the re-accreditation status based on these findings.

Offering more courses and resources in English would attract international students and faculty, while English training for students and staff would support global engagement and communication.

【Management Department】

PRT Assessment:

The School has strong learning goals that are applied in their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The learning goals are clearly stated in various media and announced to students.

The School has also established international collaborations in terms of double degree programs, overseas mobility for staff and students, invited guest speakers, and visiting international professors.

  • In general, the School has aligned with the ABEST21 Accreditation Standards.

Issues to be improved:

The School needs to indicate in the report how they communicate and provide academic assistance to students in choosing the right courses to help them achieve their learning goals.

The School needs to explain clearly how they develop their curriculum policy. The report is lacking in details regarding this matter. The site visit did help to clarify some matters, but written detail would be appreciated.

The School should also explain how their courses are structured and arranged based on the curriculum policy.

The School should explain more on how they evaluate the achievement level of the learning goals, examine the learning outcomes systematically, and review the online teaching and learning methods.

  • The School can further expand international collaborations in various aspects, including developing double degree programs, with international reputable universities.

  • Standard 16: Faculty Structure
  • Standard 17: Faculty Qualifications
  • Standard 18: Maintenance of Education and Research Environment
  • Standard 19: Faculty Development
  • Standard 20: Faculty Diversity

(1) PRT Assessment and Issues to be improved

【Faculty of Economics and Business】

PRT Assessment:

  • The School has a significant number of industry-qualified lecturers and maintains a favorable faculty-to-student ratio. However, there is a need for a global faculty development program and increased engagement for young faculty members.
  • The faculty members represent a diverse mix of experience and perspectives in terms of gender, age group, and background.
  • The School should enhance its international outlook, as there is currently no initiative or clear policy to attract full-time international faculty members to broaden the global perspective.
  • Industry leaders are brought in to teach certain classes, offering students valuable industry insights.
  • There is a noticeable gap in accommodating emerging technology in research and teaching, such as AI, virtual reality, and business analytics.

Issues to be improved:

We suggest improvements in several ways as follows.

  • Faculty Development:
    • Increase awareness of high-quality research.
    • Encourage more lecturers to participate in high-impact journal writing workshops.
    • Raise the ratio of lecturers with PhDs.
    • Encourage young faculty members to pursue Ph.D. studies.
    • Establish clear targets for advancement from functional roles to professorships.
    • Empower continuous improvement involving faculty members to enhance online education features and utilization.
  • Strategies for Faculty Enhancement:
    • Recruit international full-time faculty members for long-term planning.
    • Promote continuous professional development to introduce new teaching methods and perspectives.
    • Conduct workshops on innovative digital adoption technologies to enhance research impact and teaching and learning quality.

    • Empower faculty members to incorporate emerging technology to enhance student learning experiences and research.
    • The School needs to consider hosting more technology adoption workshops to enhance faculty members’ technological skills.
  • Faculty Workload and Recruitment:
    • Ensure fairness and incorporate the humanized principle in workload allocation for teaching, research, and community services.
    • Develop strategies to attract highly competitive international faculty members alongside visiting professors and scholars.

【Economics Department】

PRT Assessment:

Generally, FEB UNPAD demonstrates a quite impressive number of lecturers with the required level of qualification. FEB UNPAD maintains a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:10 for master’s programs, exceeding national standards to ensure high-quality education. This surplus of faculty members has reduced teaching hours per lecturer. More faculty members from FEB should be sent on exchange to reputable international universities.

  • The School has a balanced faculty team across various age groups and designations, ensuring a mix of experience and perspectives. Although there are no permanent international faculty members at present, the School has appointed several visiting professors from overseas to bring a global perspective. Faculty members are well-qualified and actively contribute to research and publications, with some involved in international research collaborations and consultancies, and teaching such as Indonesian government and UN. Teaching loads are fairly distributed, and most faculty members report managing their teaching and research responsibilities comfortably. Additionally, the School supports faculty development by offering access to research funding and sabbatical leave, promoting an environment conducive to academic growth and international engagement.

Issues to be improved:

  • Promote more lecturers to participate in foreign activities such as international conferences.
  • Share details about scholarship programs and chances for lecturers to further their study to the Ph.D. level and accelerate the functional positions of lecturers to professor.
  • Create a transparent and unbiased online method for the faculty promotion system.
  • Optimize online education features and utilization.
  • The School should consider recruiting international faculty members as part of its long-term plan. Furthermore, to address lecturers’ comfort with current practices, the School could promote continuous professional development to introduce new teaching methods and perspectives. Offering workshops on innovative teaching techniques, integrating technology into the classroom, and exploring interdisciplinary approaches would expose faculty to fresh ideas. Peer mentoring and observation programs could also allow lecturers to learn from colleagues’ practices. Additionally, incentives for publishing research in emerging fields, attending international conferences, or collaborating on global projects could motivate lecturers to expand their expertise and keep pace with evolving educational trends.

【Management Department】

PRT Assessment:

The School has a good ratio of part-time faculty members to full-time members as well as staff to student ratio.

The School also appoints industry leaders to teach in some of the classes which provides industry exposure to the students.

  • In general, the School has aligned with the ABEST21 Accreditation Standards.

Issues to be improved:

The School needs to increase the diversity of the faculty in terms of nationality by appointing more international permanent teaching staff.

The School should explain how they evaluate the practical education taught by industry practitioners.

The School also needs to describe what kind of community service the staff are involved in and how students also participate in them.

  • The current burden for teaching, research, and community service for faculty members can be reconsidered. The School might consider to develop strategies to attract international faculty members, in addition to visiting professors / scholars.

【Accounting Department】

PRT Assessment:

Good ratio on faculty and student. And the faculty is showing good feedback, dedication, and loyalty to the School. However, the number of administration staff is very high.

The School is lacking faculty members with technological skills (i.e. block chain, AI, analytics). Hence, the School should provide more trainings to the faculty members.

No diversity of faculty members (international).

  • All standards in Chapter 5 are met except for Standard 20.

Issues to be improved:

Very high number of admin staff.

The School is lacking faculty members with technological skills (i.e. block chain, AI, analytics). Hence, the School should provide more technological trainings to the faculty members.

6) Chapter 6: Educational Infrastructure

  • Standard 21: Maintenance of Educational Infrastructure
  • Standard 22: Globalization of Educational Infrastructure

(1) PRT Assessment and Issues to be improved

【Faculty of Economics and Business】

PRT Assessment:

  • The School has unique facilities to support the productivity of full professors. We suggest that professors need to lead in research and contribute more to society.
  • While the School has good classrooms, it is recommended to have a few more participant-based learning-friendly classrooms rather than conventional types.
  • The School maintains an adequate facilities, including seminar rooms, study rooms, classrooms, and the library.
  • Classrooms are furnished with facilities; however, a call center needs to be established for urgent assistance when the facilities are out of order.
  • Lecturers require individual rooms to accommodate student consultations.
  • The postgraduate student research lounge can be expanded to include a discussion room.
  • Access to the research room needs to be extended and monitored.

The School has established extensive educational infrastructure and support facilities for the comfort and convenience of students, creating a conducive learning environment. Overall, the School aligns with ABEST21 Accreditation standards.

Issues to be improved:

  • It is suggested to have individual rooms for lecturers and visiting lecturers.
  • Clear SOPs are needed to support facility complaints and ensure efficient follow-up.
  • The School should plan to enhance its digital collection and subscribe to high-quality journal resources.
  • The School should provide workspace for full-time postgraduate students.
  • The School and university should commit to providing excellent service to stakeholders, including extending operational hours for the library and reading room.
  • Facilities need to be designed to accommodate multicultural activities.
  • School canteens are encouraged to introduce globally acceptable foods that meet nutritional standards.

【Economics Department】

PRT Assessment:

FEB maintains an adequate quantity and standard of facilities, including seminar rooms, study rooms, classrooms, and library. The FEB contains classrooms that are furnished with projectors to facilitate learning activities, along with many seminar rooms that can accommodate large student groups and are also suitable for public talks.

FEB provides individual room only for lecturers with administrative position. Others share a common room but with a dedicated space for mentoring students, collaborating and other activities furnished with amenities, including individual lockers allocated to each faculty member.

Some postgraduate students are not getting proper workspace for Ph.D. students and the operational hours for library and reading room are not long enough.
