1. Accreditation Comprehensive Review

Evaluation:

“ABEST21 certifies that the School’s educational and research activities satisfy all or most accreditation standards. The School’s Kaizen plans are excellent, and quality maintenance and improvement of education and research are very promising and excellent. Accreditation commences April 1, 2021 for a five-year period.”

PRT Comprehensive Comments:

The issues to be improved had been identified and relevant action plans had been laid down in the SCR. For example, MM FBE UII systematically conducts quality assurance activities for education, including the introduction of quality audits based on ISO 9001, under various financial constraints and through relationship management with higher-level organizations. In quality assurance, it complements “top-down” approach with bottom-up quality improvement initiatives such as curriculum improvement with the cooperation of graduates. Therefore, the School should also further promote the systematization and visualization of this bottom-up type of self-reliant improvement activities.
MM FBE UII is open and willing to continuously improve addressing the comments from reviewers as shown by the School’s responses to the Preliminary PRT Questions as well as in the School Feedback sections in the PRT Comments Report.
With the strong leadership and high commitment of MM FBE UII to achieve the action plans in the future, improving the PDCA in each standard, and ensuring the student learning through a systematic Learning Goals/Objectives performance measurement, the School will have the same quality as other master programs that have been under ABEST21 accreditation.
Thus, based on the SCR submitted, the Online Peer Review Visit, and the School’s Feedback on the PRT Comment Report, almost all of the standards had been fulfilled. The School had identified clearly the quality improvement issues by chapters and described some of the improvement initiatives which it has undertaken, and further elaborated its 3 years’ action plan. With the comments provided in the PRT Report after the School’s feedback, hopefully the School will be able to address its improvement issues and implement its action plans.

2. Good Practice in the Program Management Education

Title:

“Religious Values in Business and Management Education”

Reasons:

The unique mission statement of MM FBE UII is on the rahmatan lil alamin, a concept of Islamic values in which the existence of oneself reflects the blessing to all universe. The vision is “To become one of the leading study programs of Master in Management in business management and innovation in Indonesia that is based on Islamic values and has a global outlook.”
Therefore, the mission and vision and the implementation of the standards to achieve these, show the good practice of the program in management education. The program aims to be different from other master programs by combining global outlook with Islamic values.

3. Matters to be noted
  • SCR needs professional proofreading to correct grammatical and spelling errors.
  • The School should think of planning a credit transfer system between departments of the same university, or other universities.
  • With high teaching load, the School should consider allocating special research time to its faculty.
  • The administrative staff requested for system upgrade to cater for the increasing number of students’ intake.
  • The administrative staff also requests technical training, hospitality training and a guidance on dealing with foreign students. Perhaps an analysis of training needs would help the School to identify which training can be offered to its faculty and admin staff.
  • New SOP to cater for Covid-19 pandemic is also required.
  • Students require better internet connection/coverage in the campus.
  • Alumni suggested that the School introduces new content related to digitalization – e.g. Digital Marketing.
  • More discussions with industry partners or practitioners on the curriculum design are needed to match the School’s program with industry needs.
  • Apprentice Program for students without working experience is recommended.
  • The School needs to provide more scholarship opportunities for local students as well.
  • Digital services for assignment/thesis submission are required.
  • It is a good practice to have graduates participate in specific curriculum improvement activities. These activities are a good example of bottom-up improvement based on customer feedback.
